Apart from organizing online projects, events, workshops and curatorials, KERNEL’s research subject is the design of a physical space in an open source-like way.
You can download and use the designs found under the “versions” category and contribute by designing versions about possible events (such as workshops, lectures, screenings, curatorials etc) that take place in the modified construction. These designs-events could involve creative practices related to information distribution, Internet based knowledge exchange, alternative instructional methods and co-creation. Your version can either be based on the “KERNEL core” or on other preexisting versions.
The initial design of the construction (KERNEL core) consists of two elements:
• The tower, which suggests a space of concentration of operations such as the archive, the exhibition, the storage and the processing of KERNEL’s material.
• The platform, which hosts actions for the activation of the construction. The core’s initial design consists of Dexion-type metal parts. Thus, the flexibility of the material enables the extension and transformation of the core. The various interventions in the materials and structure of the construction will serve the actions proposed each time.
You can now contribute and publish your versions by registering here.
